CHADET is a child focused Ethiopian Resident Charity which exists to ensure the provision of quality services for vulnerable children. Every year CHADET supports more than 20,000 such children.CHADET will be implementing a Girls’ Education Challenge Transition (GEC-T) project funded by DFID aimed at supporting 16,503 marginalized girls stay in school, learn and successfully transit in the different cycles of education. This project is a four year project (2017-2021) to be implemented in 30 Kebeles in three Zones (South Gondar, South Wollo and Arsi) in Amhara and Oromiya Regional States. CHADET is seeking qualified candidates for the following positions.


Position title:        Knowledge Management Officer

Duty Station:              
Project Offices (Debretabor, Kombolcha and Assela)

Report to:                   GEC-T Project Manager

Salary:                        As per the organization’s scale

Term of employment: One year contract with possible extension based on proven


Desired No:                 One per project site

A) Major duties and responsibilities

  • Ensure the practice of meaningful research, evaluation and learning with in the project;
  • Support all M&E initiatives the project including monitoring data quality, tracking the progress of activities;
  • Support the Project Coordinator in creating a framework and procedures for the monitoring of project activities;
  • Monitor all project activities and progress towards achieving the project output;
  • Assist the Project Coordinator in proposing strategies to increase data use and demand amongst field office project staff;
  • Assist project staff in clarifying project information needs;
  • Suggest ways to facilitate data collection and the flow of data within the project field teams;
  • Identify strengths and weaknesses in existing data collection and management systems and propose solutions along with the Project Coordinator;
  • Perform regular school visits to ensure the quality of data collected by projects and to verify the accuracy of reported data.

B) Job Requirements

  • A minimum BA Degree in Development Studies, Economics and other related fields of the social sciences.
  • A minimum 4 years and above NGO experience (after graduation) in Knowledge Management and Learning (KM&L) /Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E)  
  • Excellent communication & publication, M&E, best practice management and report writing skill both in Amharic and English language,

C) Skills and Abilities

  • Good level of proficiency in Windows Excel and quantitative analysis
  • Expertise in analyzing data using statistical software
  • Ability to design M&E tools, surveys, and evaluations
  • Demonstrated ability to train and build capacity of others
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Fluency in English and Amharic (spoken and written) is required, in addition to this for Assela field base fluency in Oromiffa (spoken and written) is mandatory.
